Since the 1950s, the painter Friedrich Martinotto (1909–1973) has devoted himself solely to painting and, like Nicolas de Staël, was always in search of new possibilities of depicting landscape. The works are characterized by an extremely abstract mode of painting and at the same time by a specific naming of the motif. This book of recollection concentrates on his works from the 1960s and 70s and appears on the occasion of a retrospective at the Kunstforum Heidelberg.
