The children’s art guide "Unsere Moderne" ("Our Modernism") uses a kaleido- scope of color images to introduce young art buffs aged eight and over to the exciting age of Modern Art. The selection of paintings, sculptures and works on paper is varied, only roughly organized by the time they were executed. Beginning with the French Impressionist Cézanne, proceeding to Miró’s colorful surrealist masterpieces, and then onward to the German Expressionists, exemplified by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, many vivid examples illustrate how art changed and renewed itself dramatically from the late 19th century.
Along with texts about the works, the appendix also includes short profiles of the featured artists, providing insights on their life and work, as well as a glossary explaining the more difficult terminology used. The collection guide for children is also available with a matching coloring book.
